January was the start of our new schedule. While you still preferred to be up during the late hours of the evening, we now had things we had to wake up early for (which you did, grudgingly!)
Wednesday were our Intellidance Babies Class at J'Adore Dance. It was so much fun! The instructor would talk at the start of class about babies' development and what games/exercises we could do to help those along, then we would spend the rest of the class playing/dancing/"exercising". You were were the tiniest baby there! The first few weeks, you were very quiet and just spent most of the time looking around, taking it all in. By the end you had your "favourite" activities ("high/medium/low" and "hello/goodbye" would be the two that come to mind), and you'd squeal and giggle whenever we did those.
Thursdays were also the start of the New Mom's Group. You got to see other babies that were about the same age, while Mommy got to talk to other Moms about "Mom"-type things.
You continued to gain new skills. You did your first real laugh, when Daddy was being silly. You also started grabbing things with your hands (usually your left hand), and you started putting your foot in your mouth! Eventually, this would turn into you pulling off your sock and putting your sock in your mouth! Your socks were always wet!

Month #3: Here Comes Santa Claus!
December was a fun month for a couple of reasons - one, it was your Mommy's 30th Birthday. Two (and much more importantly), you celebrated your first Christmas!
We started off the month with a visit to Daddy's old boss and her little girl, who was only born 4 weeks before you! It was fun to watch you two interact. She was just a bit older, so she was a "sneak preview" of things to come for you! And sure enough, you started doing some of those things in just a couple of weeks. For example, you learnt how to roll from your tummy to your back (your back to your tummy rolling didn't come until a couple of months later), you were quite fond of saying "ah-goo" (especially when on your change table), and you learnt how to watch people as they moved around. Pretty exciting stuff!
Next up was Mommy's birthday. Being the thoughtful girl that you are (though I have to admit that Daddy helped a bit), you got her classes to go do "Intellidance Babies" with you (more on that later) and Mommy & Baby yoga! Unfortunately, Mommy had to cancel the yoga because it conflicted with her new Mom's group. But more on that later too! Daddy cooked up a big feast for everyone and Grandma baked a lemon cake. A good time was had by all!
Next up was your first overnight trip away from home. Mommy & Daddy went to Daddy's Christmas party, and you got to stay in your first hotel room (Grandma & Grandpa O were nice enough to babysit for a few hours!) You were a perfect little angel!
A few weeks after that was your first Christmas! And boy, did Santa spoil you!
You loved the Christmas tree, and looking at all the lights! But nothing beat the excitement of Christmas morning. We got you dressed up in your very first Christmas dress. You were all ready to meet Santa Claus!
Santa came and watched you (with Mommy's help) open your presents! You loved to pull on his beard!
I had mentioned earlier that you didn't like eating. The week between Christmas and New Year's is one I like to refer to as the "Great Hunger Strike". You just did not want to eat, period. It didn't matter what Mommy did. You saw a bottle and you would cry and cry and cry (which you still do now, as I write this!) That was the same week that we tried to give you medicine, and you promptly threw it up all over us! We learnt from that point that all medicine needs to be given to you over the tub!
New Years Eve was a pretty relaxed evening. You, Mommy & Daddy spent the evening watching TV downstairs. 2011 had been a wonderful year, and we were so excited to see what 2012 would have in store!

There were so many Santa Claus presents for you that you were almost buried alive!
Christmas morning, waiting to open presents!
You and Santa and Mommy (who didn't bother to comb her hair, apparently) opening presents
Checking out your blue dog for the first time. Miley really liked it too!

Month #2: Just Hangin' Out
November was an extra fun month for you, as your Grandma & Grandpa O were staying with Mommy & Daddy, but your Gram & Grandpa Mitchell came to visit too! During their too-short visit, everyone cooked up a storm in the kitchen. Grandpa M made some delicious garlic soup and french onion soup (Daddy's favourite!), and Gram barbecued up some nice steaks like only she knows how! You loved Gram's bright coloured shirt - you couldn't stop smiling at it!
You went for your 6 week checkup, and once again you passed with flying colours! It snowed a lot that day, but you weathered the storm like a trooper! Daddy was busy putting the finishing touches on his game, so he was busy at work for most of the month. But he was so excited to come home at night and see you!
At this point, you were already sleeping through the night. Actually, you started sleeping through the night really early. Mommy would have to wake you up to feed you, something that she continued to do for months and months after. You just didn't enjoy eating; you'd much rather take in the world around you! But back to sleeping: you had your Daddy's sleep schedule. Down to bed at 2 AM, up at noon! Even as I write this (at almost 6 months), your schedule is only a little bit better! We have some work to do!
At the end of the month, you went for your two month shots. The whole family got shots that day! You cried a bit, but were a tough girl about it. We found out that you were at the 50 percentile for height, weight and head circumference. You were thriving!
Since you were still pretty little, you didn't do much other than eat and sleep. You had added thumb sucking to your list of skills, and I have to say you were pretty darn cute! No pacifier for you - your thumb was all you needed!
November came and went in a blur...December was a much more exciting month.

Month #1: Welcome Home!
We brought you home from the hospital almost exactly 36 hours after we first went in to deliver you. It was an abnormally warm September day. Driving home was terrifying. Though we had driven that path many times before, having you in the car seemed to make us much more vulnerable. Going 60 km/h seemed like we were going way too fast for our precious cargo!
The first members of the family you met were Oscar and Holly, who promptly wanted nothing to do with you. I think they were just scared, because they had never been around a baby before! Miley was on her "vacation", so you didn't meet her for another week. We also put you in your "Mamaroo" for the first time. You didn't care for it much. I think Mommy & Daddy liked it more than you did!
The next day, the nurse from the health unit came to visit you, and she told us that you were doing great! And the following week, you met Miley. She really wanted to lick your face, which Mommy really didn't like!!
We settled into our routine quickly. Thankfully, your dad had a couple of weeks off of work, so he helped me through the midnight feedings, the baths (baths were your dad's speciality in the first couple of months), the swaddling (which you hated after the first week), and the many, many diaper changes.
We spent a lot of time in bed, and would try to do things to make you smile or laugh. You were too little to do anything like that...but you sure did make some great grumpy faces!
On October 22, you met your Uncle Justin & Great-Uncle Dan & Great-Aunt Carol. But before that, you had your very first day at the spa! Mommy & Daddy took you to an infant massage class. The masseuse was so scared to work on you because you were so tiny! You did wonderful - you slept the whole time!
On October 29, my friends from work, who were dying to see you, threw me a post-baby "baby shower". The theme was "A Star is Born", and they hung little stars from the ceiling, and taped Starburst candies to the walls. So cute!
On October 30, your Grandma & Grandpa O finished their long trip from Ontario and finally arrived in Sherwood Park! They were so excited to meet you!
